Esther Heller (b. 1938. (India / Iraq / Israel / Turkey / Vietnam / New Zealand / Denmark)

. I do not feel at home when I'm home, but feel at home wherever I am

with a father who was a Hindu and a mother who was an Indian Jew, she grew up in India and Israel. She became a diplomat's wife in Turkey and there met her great Danish love for whom she left her comfortable life. She worked with her husband who was a photographer in the war zone in Vietnam. Since then, they have traveled a lot and lived in many countries. She sees herself as a Banjan tree that can take root in many places. Her portrait, therefore, is based on the many roots and a kind of double portrait where her husband physically becomes half of the figure.
