BEHIND THE PROJECT / THE SELF-GOVERNING INSTITUTION LIFE-BOATS SAILING SCULPTURES (LBSS)
The self-governing institution Life-boats Sailing Sculptures (LBSS)
The Self-governing Institution Life-Boats Sailing Sculptures was founded on December 11, 2017. The purpose of the institution is to be responsible for the preservation and the promotion of the art project, Life Boats, a sailing sculpture installation created by Marit Benthe Norheim.
The institution continues the work that The Self-governing Institution Life-Boats brought to fruition during the period 2012 to 2017, namely to complete the three vessels composed of the sculpture installation, and to carry out a series of excursions on Denmark’s inland waters. It involves the maiden voyage on Limfjorden in 2016 and cultural trips to more than 50 ports on the Danish waterways in 2017 – among these The Copenhagen Contemporary as ambassador to Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017.
The Board of the Self-governing Institution Life-Boats Sailing Sculptures is now working to develop the project and the artist's original mission: to bring the sailing sculptures further into the world and to create cultural exchanges through the dissemination of art across borders along Europe's waterways.
The Board consists of:
Leif Stiholt, Chairman. Director of Stiholt A / S.

Lene Augusta Jørgensen. Vice-chancellor University College Nordjylland UCN
Niels Mellergaard. Castle Garden Manager. Landscape architect
