Ruth Ross Carlsen (b. 1924. Germany/Poland/Norway/Denmark)

With the war, childhood and youth vanished

married to a Norwegian after the war, now lives in Denmark. Ruth writes and gives lectures, so that that we do not forget (!) that the Second World War atrocities have taken place, and that she was a witness to it. She was forced to be a silent witness. Her symbolic portrait has wide open eyes and a large eye in the chest, where the pupil is the head of a little girl in starched crinoline - etched into it as an outward-facing relief on the one side and an introspective relief on the other.
