Artist Ole Tersløse of Marit Benthe Norheim and Life-boats

Benthe Norheim creates mythological figures on a large scale. They appear to me to be consciously emotionally laden, which could quickly become sentimental, but empathy is juxtaposed against an aesthetic which is dissonant and tortuous.

In connection with a future project, with gigantic sculptures designed as boats, she has worked with the "figurehead" as a symbol. I think that she meets a need in mankind to create symbols that protect our lives and create an opinion-forming perspective. A need that pretty much all contemporary art has put aside in an attempt to bow to modern philosophy, which consistently deconstructs human symbols and myths.
